We Are
The Dynaverse team has been selected to face the major challenges that await us in the era of Big-Data astrophysics.
The Bonn-Cologne-Jülich region is a major astronomy hub, attracting internationally recognised researchers. This is evidenced by the diverse composition of our team, with 48% international PIs and 50% international cooperation partners. Additionally, we have increased the number of female PIs to 36%, notably through new hires. For the recruitment of the new professorships and the new junior groups, excellence is our main criterion.
Within Dynaverse, the FZ-Jülich, the DLR in Cologne, and HITS in Heidelberg are joining our network as new partner institutions, adding important expertise in software technology and high-performance computing (DLR Cologne, FZ Jülich), as well as in Astroinformatics and ML (HITS). As HITS is located slightly further away, we plan frequent secondments of PhD students and staff to work with HITS scientists.
In addition, the DZA will join as a national cooperation partner. The locations of the Dynaverse partners (orange circles) and our national cooperation partner, DZA (blue circle) are show below.
