Dr. Laura Spitler, Invited Lecture, Astroparticle Physics Seminar at DESY-Zeuthen, Germany:
Fast Radio Bursts (FRBs) are a new class of radio transient whose astrophysical origin is not yet fully understood. Thanks to new telescopes that came online in the last 5 years, the number of FRB discoveries has exploded, yielding a population with a diverse range of observational properties. This significant increase in FRB detection rate is accompanied by a corresponding increase in data rates, which introduces a new set of challenges. The PUNCH4NFDI is a German-wide collaboration working to find generic solutions to these challenges, and I will briefly mention our work on data irreversibly and completeness.
